                                            Description

                                         | The dataset stems from a field trial of 14 Norwegian pig herds, in a case/control study of respiratory disease outbreaks. In seven herds with reported outbreaks of acute respiratory disease, data on clinical signs was recorded and samples for laboratory examination were collected. Diagnostic protocols were compared by parallel analysis of clinically healthy pigs from seven non-outbreak herds.
Data was collected through diagnostic sampling of pigs, including serum samples, oral fluid samples and bacteriology following autopsy of respiratory organs. Epidemiological data was collected through farmer interviews and on farm registration. Data regarding biosecurity on farm was collected by the use of a standardized protocol for biosecurity scoring, the biocheck.Ugent. Additionally, production data and disease registration at slaughter has been collected through slaughterhouse reports from the individual farms.
